Count Function
It does not stop here. We are going to learn COUNTA, COUNTBLANK, COUNTIF functions also after this.
Count Function actually counts the cells which contains number or date.
Key Rules to Remember
- It only counts numbers, dates, or formulas that result in numbers.
- It ignores empty cells, text, and logical values like TRUE or FALSE
- If you need to cound based on a specific rule (like counting how many sales were over a certain amount), use COUNTIF
- If you need to count text or non-empty cells, use COUNTA
Common Real Life Uses
- Tracking Sales and Orders: Counting how many order ID numbers or transaction amounts were logged in a daily ledger
- HR and Attendance: Finding the total number of days an employee clocked hours or received a numeric performance metric
- Inventory Audits: Tallying how many stock items have a recorded numeric quantity left in the warehouse
- Financial Auditing: Checking a column of invoice numbers or payment values to ensure no cells are missing entries
